Our philosophy is to intervene at the earliest sign of decay. This allows us to render more conservative treatment, save more healthy tooth structure and maximize the best chance of our patients keeping their teeth for a lifetime. Early intervention also means less discomfort, less expense and more predictable treatment.
What To Expect at Your Dental Appointment
When you leave our office, your teeth will feel brand new. We’ll complete a full inspection of your teeth noting any concerns and then remove stains and deposits from the teeth at and below the gumline. During this appointment, our tenured hygienists use an ultrasonic vibrating tip that removes stains and hard debris. Next, the hygienist uses specialized hand instruments to clean every surface of the teeth until glassy smooth.
Routine removal of debris accumulation on the teeth promotes healthy gums and reduces the risk of developing cavities, gingivitis and periodontitis. In addition to the cleaning, the hygienist will either take radiographs or gum probings. At the end of every cleaning, we recommend the application of a fluoride varnish (see additional details under Services).The hygienist will share all findings and results with the doctor, who then evaluates and discusses with the patient the best options moving forward.
